The Booster Pump Dialog

Commercial 5.8 for Windows features an Advanced Pump Selection Dialog that automatically calculates the pump rated pressure and pump rated flow. It plots the pump curve and keeps track of important fire pump discharge and suction parameters. The Net Positive Suction Pressure Available is calculated using elevation pressure losses(Hz), underground piping friction losses (Hf) and fixed losses between the source and pump suction.

Hydrant Flow Test 6.0 for Windows

        Hydrant Flow Test 6.0 for Windows features dynamic spreadsheets for calculating and displaying the results of single or multiple hydrant flow tests. There is no limit on the number of flow test locations and outlets flowed. The dynamic graph responds immediately to changes in all major hydrant flow test parameters. The graph displays extrapolated flow at 0 psi, 20 psi and other user defined values of pressure. The Mapping Module plots color coded Class AA, A & B hydrant markers by street address or GPS coordinates.
        The Hydrant Flow Test 6.0 Geocoder translates street addresses to GPS coordinates. The Geocoder Utility in the Mapping Module features a marker tool that can be dragged and dropped on the map to determine precise GPS coordinates for any place on earth. Reports, graphs and maps can be printed for individual or multiple hydrant flow tests. Flow test parameters and results are displayed in a scrollable Summary spreadsheet. The spreadsheet can be sorted and searched for results matching file name, hydrant, location, date, static, residual, flow and other variables. Copy and Paste hydrant flow test summary results to Microsoft Excel.

Controls
HYDRONICS features impressive state-of-the-art custom controls that put you in charge of all the data entry and editing requirements for your Fire Sprinker Hydraulic calculations. It features pull down menus and scrollable spreadsheets linked to button bars for copy, paste, repeat, replace, insert and delete operations on multiple or single blocks of nodes and pipes. Typical values can be easily entered for multiple nodes and pipes. Click a button bar to repeat lines or columns in the spreadsheet. Clicking on the printer icon sends input or output data to the printer. Losses for meters and backflow devices are entered in psi. The system can be balanced for a minimum end-head flow or pressure. A single mouse click checks for errors, starts the calculation and displays the output. HYDRONICS uses finite element analysis in conjunction with the Newton-Raphson and LaGuerre algorithms for quickly and accurately balancing any fire sprinkler system configuration.

Grid Estimator - quickly builds very large systems of cross mains and branch lines. The data created can be easily modified, saved and calculated from the editor.

Automatic Peaking - automatically peaks and selects the MRA for grid systems that are defined by the Grid Estimator or those manually entered using the full screen editor. It prints a Peaking Summary sheet.

Velocity Analyzer - calculates measures of fluid turbulence such as Moody's f and the Reynold's Number. The analyzer calculates and compares friction losses using both the Hazen-Williams and Darcy-Weisbach formulas to help you analyze and solve velocity problems. Settle velocity arguments with this powerful tool.

K-Factor Calculator - calculate adjusted k-factors for arm-overs and drops.

Tank Flow Utility - allows users to modify or add to the built-in pipe diameters, fitting symbols, symbol descriptors and equivalent lengths.

Pipe Table Editor - allows users to modify or add to the built-in pipe diameters, fitting symbols, symbol descriptors and equivalent lengths.

Velocity Analyzer

         The Velocity Analyzer Utility calculates the Reynolds Number, a key measure of fluid turbulence and non-laminar flow. The Reynolds Number is a function of pipe diameter(in), flow(gpm) and kinematic viscosity(Sq-Ft/sec). The Velocity Analyzer uses the Reynolds Number and measures of pipe roughness to calculate Moody's f and pipe friction loss(psi/ft) using the Darcy-Weisbach equation. The Velocity Analyzer also displays pipe friction loss using the Hazen-Williams equation.

Tank Flow

         The Tank Flow Utility is used for estimating the total pressure, velocity and flow from a water tank. The total pressure estimate takes into account vapor pressure, atmospheric pressure and water pressure. Vapor pressure is related to water temperature selected from a drop down list box. Atmospheric pressure varies with the value entered for elevation relative to sea level. Water pressure depends on the value entered for the tank water level relative to the spout centerline. The flow depends on the values entered for spout diameter and a coefficient for entry and exit losses. These parameters play an important role in matching tanks with fire pumps.

Pipe Table Editor

         A single key press or mouse click gives you access to 7 different kinds of sprinkler piping. There are over 60 built-in diameters for Steel, XL, Copper, Dynaflow, CPVC, PVC and Ductile Iron. Pipe sizes may be entered as nominal (1, 1.25,1.5, ...) or actual (1, 1.049, 1.380,...) diameters. There are 7 different fitting symbols. Multiple fittings are easily described e.g. 4E3T means four elbows and three tees. Fittings may also be entered as total equivalent lengths of pipe. Use the Pipe Table Editor and enter your own unique values for diameters, fitting symbols and fitting lengths.

Analysis
HYDRONICS provides you with immediate and comprehensive summaries of the hydraulic calculation output that can be viewed on your screen or sent to the printer. You can easily keep track of the friction loss, flow and velocity for every pipe in your sprinkler system.
